The Notre Dame Fighting Irish face off with the Clemson Tigers as they rematch in the ACC conference championship game on Saturday afternoon.
The Clemson Tigers will look to win their 6th straight ACC conference championship game after finishing the regular season with a 9-1 overall record with the lone blemish coming as a loss to Notre Dame earlier this season. Trevor Lawrence has thrown for 2,431 yards, 20 touchdowns and 3 interceptions on 69.2% passing while Travis Etienne leads the Tigers in rushing with 758 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. Amari Rodgers leads the Tigers in receiving with 61 grabs for 845 yards and 6 touchdowns while Cornell Powell has 684 yards with 5 scores and Etienne has 512 receiving yards out of the backfield for Clemson. Braden Galloway has 316 receiving yards while Frank Ladson Jr. and Travis Allen each have 200+ receiving yards for the Tigers this season. On defense, Baylon Spector leads the Tigers with 56 total tackles along with 3.5 sacks while Nolan Turner has a team-high 33 solo tackles and 3 interceptions this season. Xavier Thomas, LaVonta Bentley and Myles Murphy all have 3.5 sacks as well this year.
The Notre Dame Fighing Irish will look to remain unbeaten after finishing the year at 10-0 and hoping to lift the ACC trophy in their lone year with the conference affiliation. Ian Book has thrown for 2,382 yards, 15 touchdowns and 2 interceptions on 63.3% passing while also rushing for 465 yards and 8 TDs himself this season. Kyren Williams leads the Irish with 1,011 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns while Chris Tyree has 459 rushing yards with 3 scores and C’Bo Flemister has 303 rushing yards with 5 touchdowns. Javon McKinley leads the Irish in receiving with 37 catches for 660 yards while Ben Skowronek has 344 receiving yards with a team-high 5 touchdowns and Michael Mayer has 337 receiving yards. On defense, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah leads the Irish with 48 total tackles while Kyle Hamilton has a team-high 39 solo tackles. Adetokunbo Ogundeji has a team-high 5.5 sacks while Isaiah Foskey has 4.5 sacks and Daelin Hayes has added 3 sacks to the party this year for Notre Dame.
Clemson is 17-5 ATS in their last 22 neutral site games and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 neutral site games as a favorite while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall. Notre Dame is 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games against a team with a winning record and 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games following a win while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 neutral site games.
The points with Notre Dame are tempting but the fact that this line’s already moved 3.5 points towards Clemson in less than a day tells me all I need to know about this matchup. The Tigers already feel slighted by teams trying to “duck them” and the only blemish on their record is against this Notre Dame team when Trevor Lawrence was out. You’d have to think that Clemson, with their QB back in the line and fully healthy, will have a bit of a chip on their shoulder knowing that’s all they’ve heard about is Notre Dame this and Notre Dame that. With Clemson getting Lawrence back for this game, I think the sky’s the limit for Dabo and Clemson here, so I’ll lay the points with Clemson in a beating here as the Tigers get revenge.
