The Oklahoma State Cowboys face off with the Miami Hurricanes in college football bowl season action in the Cheez-It Bowl from Camping World Stadium in Orlando .

The Miami Hurricanes come into the bowl game after a solid 8-2 season where their only two losses came to ranked teams in Clemson and UNC, but things looked bright once again for the ‘Canes under Manny Diaz. D’Eriq King threw for 2,573 yards, 22 touchdowns and 5 interceptions on 63.6% passing while also rushing for 520 yards and 4 scores. Cam’Ron Harris added 591 rushing yards and 9 touchdowns to lead Miami while Donald Chaney Jr. and Jaylan Washington each had 200+ rushing yards in the regular season. Mike Harley leads the receiving  corps for Miami with 49 grabs for 730 yards and 6 touchdowns while Brevin Jordan had 480 receiving yards with 5 TDs. Mark Pope and Dee Wiggins each had 350+ receiving yards while Will Mallory added 262 receiving yards and 4 TDs for the ‘Canes. On defense, Bubba Bolden led the Hurricanes with 65 total tackles including a team-high 45 solo tackles while Jaelan Phillips had a team-high 8 sacks and Quincy Roche added 4.5 sacks this season.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys come into this one off of a very good 7-3 season, but the Cowboys struggled with consistency over the latter part of the year, alternating wins and losses in each of their final seven games of the season, ening with a 42-3 win over Baylor. Spencer Sanders has thrown for 1,702 yards, 10 touchdowns and 8 interceptions on 61.8% passing while Chuba Hubbard leads OK State’s ground attack with 625 yards and 5 scores, but will sit this game out to prepare for the NFL Draft. Dezmon Jackson has 526 rushing yards with 4 TDs and J.D. Brown has 395 rushing yards as well this season for the ‘Pokes. Tylan Wallace leads Oklahoma State in receiving with 53 grabs for 877 yards and 6 touchdowns while Dillon Stoner had 530 yards on 37 catches with 3 TDs. Braydon Johnson and Landon Wolf each added 200+ receiving yards for the Cowboys as well. On defense, Amen Ogbongbemiga led the way with 76 total tackles along with 2.5 sacks while Malcolm Rodriguez had 73 total tackles with a team-high 52 solo tackles and 3 sacks. Calvin Bundage led the Cowboys with 6.5 sacks while Trace Ford had 4.5 sacks and Tyler Lacy came right behind with 4 sacks this season.

Miami is 1-8 ATS in their last 9 bowl games and 2-10 ATS in their last 12 neutral site games while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 non-conference games. Oklahoma State is 14-3 ATS in their last 17 non-conference games and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 neutral site games while the under is 6-0 in their last 6 bowl games.

I thought the Hurricanes were the better team coming into this game, and while a player being out is factored into the creation of the line (along with the fact that we’ve known for some time now that Hubbard’s sitting out for Oklahoma State), I just don’t think it’s really being factored in how much he impacts this team. Sure, Dezmon Jackson is a capable fill-in, but Hubbard was one of the senior leaders on the team. The Cowboys offense will probably be fine otherwise, but without Hubbard, I like Miami that much more so I’ll take Miami on the money line here.
