The Missouri Tigers and the Iowa Hawkeyes meet in college football action from Nissan Stadium as part of the Music City Bowl.

The Missouri Tigers come into the bowl game fresh off of a 5-5 campaign that saw the Tigers win 5 of 6 games in the middle of the season before flaming out in the last two games and falling apart down the stretch. Connor Bazelak has thrown for 2,366 yards, 7 touchdowns and 6 interceptions on 67.3% passing while Larry Rountree III had 972 rushing yards and a team-high 14 rushing touchdowns. Tyler Badie also added 242 rushing yards and 4 scores while Keke Chism had a team-high 458 receiving yards and 35 catches. Damon Hazelton, Badie, Jalen Knox and Tauskie Dove each have 300+ receiving yards as well for Missouri on the year. On defense, Nick Bolton led the Tigers with 95 total tackles including a team-high 53 solo tackles and a pair of sacks. Trajan Jeffcoat ended up leading the Tigers with 6 sacks this season.

The Iowa Hawkeyes enter this game finishing the year with a 6-2 record overall, rattling off six consecutive victories to end the season. Spencer Petras has thrown for 1,569 yards, 9 touchdowns and 6 interceptions on 57.1% passing while Tyler Goodson has rushed for 762 yards and 7 TDs and Mekhi Sargent has 432 rushing yards and 7 scores as well. Ihmir Smith-Marsette leads the Hawkeyes with 345 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns while Sam LaPorta and Brandon Smith each have 200+ receiving yards and four additional Missouri receivers each have 100+ receiving yards this season. On defense, Nick Niemann leads the Hawkeyes with 77 total tackles including a team-high 37 solo tackles while Jack Koerner has a team-high 3 interceptions. Chauncey Golston and Daviyon Nixon each have 5.5 sacks as well this season for the Hawkeyes.

Missouri is 5-12 ATS in their last 17 games overall and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games against the Big Ten while the under is 9-2 in their last 11 games following a loss. Iowa is 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 7-2 ATS in their last 9 non-conference games while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 bowl games.

I fully get Iowa being favored here, and this could go one of two ways for the Hawkeyes, they come out fired up to prove a point that they should’ve been in a New Year’s Six bowl game, or they come out flat thinking that there’s other places they’d rather be. I’m not sure which shows up, but I think we get a strong response from Missouri on the other side. Eli Drinkwitz already has the Tigers back competing for bowls (albeit in a wacky 2020 year) and with him coming over from Appalachian State and the winning culture that was instilled there, I think he will carry that over to Missouri, starting here. I’m not sure the Tigers win this game outright, but I could see the tigers keeping this one within ten points, so I’ll take Missouri and the points in this one.
