The VMI Keydets and Furman Paladins face off on Saturday in a Week 3 FCS College Football showdown at Alumni Memorial Stadium.
When these two teams faced off back in 2019 it was Furman that was able to come away with a 60-21 victory.
There are a lot of questions surrounding this VMI Keydets team, but this could be one of the most popular teams to watch this spring, and for good reason. VMI will be playing their first game of the season on Saturday and all eyes are going to be on Reece Udinski. Udinski is going to be transferring off to play at Maryland after the season, but he should be the perfect quarterback for this air raid system with his big arm. It’s a good thing that Udinski is talented because there is a very good chance VMI will need to score a lot of points to keep this game close. VMI’s defense still is probably going to have issues, but they are going to need to step up at least a little bit.
On the other side of this matchup is the Furman Paladins who faced off with Western Carolina in the first game of the season and there was really no doubt that Furman would come away with a victory. Furman put up 35 points including 21 points in the second quarter. Furman’s defense gave up seven points in the first quarter but after that the defense locked down and there was no doubt they would get out with a victory. Hamp Sisson was the star of the show for Furman finishing with 207 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. He was slinging it all over the field, but the two interceptions were a big issue.
If you like scoring, make sure you tune into this game, because there is going to be plenty of it in this game. Look for both teams to run up the score and the over is going to have no issue cashing with ease.
