The Wofford Terriers and Chattanooga Mocs face off on Saturday in a Week 3 FCS College Football showdown at Finley Stadium.
The Wofford Terriers have played one game so far this spring season, and they were impressive in the first game against Mercer. Wofford’s defense locked down in the first half not giving up any points and when the final whistle was blown, Wofford had come away with a 31-14 victory. Quarterback Jimmy Weirick looked good finishing the game throwing for 173 yards but he didn’t find the end zone. Wofford scored four touchdowns on the ground and the focus will be on the running game in this one. Irvin Mulligan is the teams best running back and he finished the game rushing 11 times for 90 yards and a touchdown. In this game it’s going to be about controlling the pace with their offense, and the defense is going to need to step up in a big way.
The Chattanooga Mocs will be playing their first game of the spring football season, but they did also play one game during the fall season, and they were very competitive. Back on October 24th, Chattanooga faced off with Western Kentucky, and they almost pulled off the big upset. At halftime of the game, Chattanooga was up 7-3 but the offense couldn’t get enough going in the second half, and a touchdown in the 4th quarter by Western Kentucky was the difference as the Mocs were defeated 13-10. The offense had issues moving the ball. Chattanooga was led by Drayton Arnold who completed nine of his 23 passes for 90 yards. The leading rusher for the team was Ailym Ford who rushed for 92 yards on 25 carries.
I expect both teams are going to struggle to score in this game and that will lead to a low scoring affair. The lack of scoring by both teams is going to lead to the under cashing. Back the under.
