The San Diego Toreros and Davidson Wildcats face off on Saturday in a week 8 FCS college football showdown at Torero Stadium.
The Davidson Wildcats have played four games so far this spring and they have won three of their four games. Davidson lost their first game of the season against Elon, but since that point they have won three games in a row. In the last game against Morehead State it was competitive, but Davidson was able to win 24-21. It took ten points in the 4th quarter for Davidson to come away with the victory. Davidson is a run first team and in the last game the star of the show was Mark McCurdy and he had eight carries for 127 yards and a touchdown. There were four different players who had at least 40 rushing yards and the rushing game is going to need to be strong in this game.
On the other side of this matchup is the San Diego Toreros who have played three games so far this year and they have won all three games. In the last game against Presbyterian, the game was competitive, but San Diego was able to come away with a three point victory. Quarterback Mason Randall looked good throwing for 301 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. The interceptions can be a problem, and in this game they are going to need to a better job of not turning the ball over. In the last game they gave up 14 points in the 4th quarter, and they can’t have another bad 4th quarter, or this will be a game where they lose their first game.
San Diego is the better team, but Davidson has played well coming into this game and they are going to find success in this game. Look for Davidson to keep this game and cover the spread. Don’t be shocked if Davidson wins this game outright.
