The Cincinnati Bearcats meet the Murray State Racers Saturday in week 2 college football action at Nippert Stadium. The Murray State Racers look for a 2-0 start after beating Mississippi Valley in their opener. The Cincinnati Bearcats look for another win after beating Miami (OH) in their opener.

The Murray State Racers have won six of their last eight games overall. Preston Rice is completing 60 percent of his passes for 116 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception. LaMartez Brooks and Damonta Witherspoon have combined for 108 receiving yards on seven catches while Deshun Britten has one reception. The Murray State Racers ground game is averaging 307 yards per contest, and Cortezz Jones leads the way with 107 yards and one touchdowns. Defensively, Murray State is allowing zero points and 162 yards per game. Jacobi Hearn leads the Murray State Racers with five tackles, Davontae McKee has one sack and Quinaz Turner has one interception.

The Cincinnati Bearcats haven’t lost a regular season game since December of 2019. Desmond Ridder is completing 80 percent of his passes for 295 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. Tyler Scott and Jadon Thompson have combined for 160 receiving yards and one touchdown while Josh Whyle has two receptions. The Cincinnati Bearcats ground game is averaging 247 yards per contest, and Jerome Ford leads the way with 121 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Cincinnati is allowing 14 points and 278 yards per game. Deshawn Pace leads the Cincinnati Bearcats with eight tackles, Arquon Bush has one sack and Bryan Cook had one pass deflection.

It’s been a while since the Murray State Racers have played above average competition and they usually don’t compete against FBS competition. The Cincinnati Bearcats are the team to beat in the AAC, looked great in their season opener and have a Heisman caliber quarterback in Ridder. The only concern here is Cincinnati has a ranked Indiana on deck next week, so a possible lookahead spot. Still, give me Cincinnati in a beatdown.
