Wisconsin vs Eastern Michigan 9/11/21 College Football Picks, Odds, Predictions

The Wisconsin Badgers meet the Eastern Michigan Eagles Saturday in week 2 college football action from Camp Randall Stadium. The Eagles played St. Francis PA in their first matchup of the year, taking a 20-point victory. As for the Badgers, they matched up against Penn State in their first game. Eastern Michigan got a half-dozen games in last fall, finishing 2-4 overall. That result left the Eagles just one spot out of the basement in the West Division of the Mid-American Conference. The good news is that Eastern Michigan took wins over Western Michigan and Northern Illinois in their final two games of the year. 

In the opener of the 2021 season against St. Francis PA, the Eagles logged a nice 35-15 victory. Eastern Michigan’s Ben Bryant passed for 126 yards on an 8-of-10 line, while Darius Boone and Jawon Hamilton combined for 171 yards and two touchdowns rushing. 

Over on the Wisconsin side, they put up a 4-3 overall record last year with a 3-3 mark in Big Ten play. The Badgers finished in third place in the West Division. In the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, Wisconsin completed the year on a high note with a 42-28 win over Wake Forest. 

In their first game of the year versus Penn State, Wisconsin couldn’t score in the first half and ultimately fell in a tough 16-10 result. Badgers QB Graham Mertz put up 185 yards and two interceptions, while Chez Mellusi added 121 yards with a score from 31 carries.

PICK: I’m going to try Eastern Michigan here, but probably staying away. The Eagles had their run game going pretty well in week one, notching 221 yards on the ground. They also went 9-of-16 on third and fourth down tries. It was a nice way to open the season, but facing Wisconsin is certainly going to be much tougher. 

Speaking of the Badgers, they held Penn State to just 50 rushing yards and 11 first downs, but simply couldn’t finish off drives. Wisconsin held the ball for a crazy 42:51 but weren’t able to turn that into success. The Badgers will certainly play much better here, but I think EMU is good enough to get in there on a cover.
