The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs meet the SMU Mustangs in week 3 college football action from Joe Alliet Stadium on Saturday.

The SMU Mustangs will be looking to build on their 35-13 win over North Texas in their last game. Tanner Mordecai has thrown for 629 yards, 11 touchdowns and 2 interceptions on 71.4% passing while Ulysses Bentley IV leads the Mustangs in rushing with 189 rushing yards. Danny Gray leads the Mustangs in receiving with 159 receiving yards and 3 scores. Rashee Rice has 134 receiving yards with a pair of scores and Reggie Roberson Jr. also has 101 receiving yards. Shaine Hailey leads the Mustangs with 14 total tackles while Trevor Renfrow has a team-high 10 solo tackles and Gary Wiley has a pair of sacks. Isaiah Nwokobia also added a pair of interceptions for the Mustangs this year.

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will try to build off of their 45-42 win over Southeastern Louisiana in their last game. Austin Kendall has thrown for 269 yards, 2 touchdowns and a pick on 55.6% passing while also rushing for a team-high 68 yards and a score. Bub Means has a team-high 93 receiving yards while Smoke Harris leads LA Tech with 4 grabs for 52 yards. On defense, Trey Baldin leads the Bulldogs with 15 total tackles while Baylen Buchanan has a team-high 10 solo tackles and BeeJay Williamson has a pair of interceptions this year.

SMU is 21-6 ATS in their last 27 September games and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 road games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 conference games. Louisiana Tech is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games while the over is 15-2 in their last 17 home games against a team with a winning road record.

I get the case that could be made for a home dog and Louisiana Tech’s battled this season, but the bottom line is that the Bulldogs scraped by Southeastern Louisiana and SMU is one of the more underrated and potent offensive attacks in the AAC. I just don’t see the Bulldogs having the pace to keep up with SMU, even at home, so I’ll lay it and play it with SMU in this one.
