The Missouri Tigers meet the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks Saturday in week 3 college football action from Memorial Stadium at Faurot Field. Southeast Missouri State is coming off a matchup versus Sam Houston. In that game, the Redhawks took a big loss. As for Missouri, they played Kentucky in their last game. The Tigers fell by seven points in that one. Check back all season long for free college football picks at Sports Chat Place.

Southeast Missouri State couldn’t figure out Southern Illinois in their opener game, ultimately taking a 47-21 loss. The Redhawks were down 28-7 at the break and were outscored in every quarter. Geno Hess led the rushing attack for the Redhawks on 18 carries for 104 yards.

In game two versus Sam Houston, Southeast Missouri State gave up 24 points in the second quarter alone on the way to a 52-14 blowout loss. Quarterback CJ Ogbonna put up 168 yards with one TD and one interception, and Geno Hess rushed for 42 yards and a TD.

Over on the Missouri side, they matched up against Central Michigan in their opener. The Tigers posted a solid victory 34-24 in that one. Missouri quarterback Connor Bazelak finished with 257 yards and two touchdowns, while Tyler Blade posted 203 rush yards and a score.

Last weekend versus Kentucky, Missouri scored in every quarter but couldn’t overcome an early deficit in a 35-28 defeat. Quarterback Connor Bazelak finished on 294 yards with four touchdowns and a pick, while Tyler Badie had 88 yards and a score on 10 receptions.

PICK: I’m going to take Missouri in this one. There are quite a few things the Tigers need to clean up before they get back on the field, though. Missouri gave up 519 yards of total offense to the Wildcats in week two, with a whopping 340 yards of that coming on the ground. Even though their own offensive output was decent (398 yards), it was impossible to keep up.

As for SEMO, they gave up a ton of yards and three touchdowns on the ground in their last game as well. Run defense will certainly be a point of focus in practice this week for both squads, and I think the Tigers will come out better for it in this game.
