The Fresno State Bulldogs meet the UNLV Rebels Friday Night in college football action from Bulldog Stadium. UNLV is coming off a matchup versus Iowa State this past weekend. The Rebels took a blowout loss in that game. As for the Bulldogs, they played UCLA in their last game. In that matchup, Fresno State eked out a three-point win. UNLV took a tough loss versus Eastern Washington in their opener game this year. The Rebels had a big fourth quarter but eventually fell in double overtime 35-33. In week two against Arizona State, UNLV couldn’t score in the second half during a 37-10 defeat.

In game three versus Iowa State, the Rebels fell behind 24-0 at halftime and limped to a 48-3 blowout defeat. Quarterback Cameron Friel had just 67 yards and an interception, while Charles Williams put up 42 yards on 19 carries. Giovanni Fauolo had 36 yards from four catches as well.

Over on the Fresno State side, they played Oregon pretty tough in their opener but ultimately lost 31-24. Game two against Cal Poly went much better for the Bulldogs, though. Fresno State notched a blowout 63-10 win in that one, featuring 28 second-quarter points.

Last weekend versus UCLA, Fresno State scored in every quarter and had to fend off the Bruins in the final frame but ultimately persevered 40-37. Quarterback Jake Haener had 455 yards with two TDs and a pick, while Ronnie Rivers had 136 rush yards with two score.

The Rebels are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four on turf and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five overall. UNLV is also 3-1-1 ATS in their last five road games.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are 4-1 ATS in their last five after a straight-up win and 11-3-1 ATS in their last 15 in September. Fresno State is also 5-2 ATS in their last seven Friday games.

PICK: I like Fresno State here. The Bulldogs showed some real tenacity in their matchup versus UCLA, amassing 569 total yards of offense with 6.3 yards per play. Fresno State did have three turnovers, but otherwise held the ball for much of the game.

As for UNLV there’s not much to get excited about from their last game. The Rebels had just 130 yards of offense and 2.6 yards per play against a stout Iowa State team. I like UNLV to play a little better here but Fresno looks like the better cover option.
