The Virginia Cavaliers meet the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in an ACC college football matchup from Scott Stadium on Friday night.

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons will look to build on their 35-14 win over Florida State in their last game. Heading into their matchup with Florida State, Sam Hartman leads the Demon Deacons with 432 passing yards and 4 touchdowns while Christian Beal-Smith leads the Demon Deacons with 134 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns and Christian Turner has a pair of rushing TDs this season. Jaquarii Roberson leads Wake’s receiving group with 10 catches fro 143 yards and a touchdown with a pair of scores while A.T. Perry is Wake Forest’s second 100-yard receiver so far this season. Defensively, Luke Masterson leads the Demon Deacons with 13 total tackles including 8 solo tackles while Luiji Vilain and JAsheen Davis each have 1.5 sacks this season.

The Virginia Cavaliers will look for a rebound after a 59-39 shootout loss to North Carolina in their last game. Heading into their game against North Carolina, Brennan Armstong has thrown for 744 yards, 7 touchdowns and an interception on 71.6% passing while Wayne Taulapapa has a team-high 83 rushing yards and Keytaon Thompson has 67 rushing yards and a score. Dontayvion Wicks leads the Cavaliers with 163 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns while Thompson has 134 receiving yards. Kelani Woods, Billy Kemp IV and Ra’Shaun Henry each have 100+ receiving yards with a touchdown as well this season. Nick Jackson has a team-high 19 total tackles and Joey Blount has a team-high 10 solo tackles while Noah Taylor has a pair of sacks for the Cavaliers this year.

Wake Forest is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 conference games and 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 road games while the under is 7-1 in their last 8 games in September. Virginia is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following an ATS loss and 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games overall while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 games following a loss.

I was impressed with what I saw from Virginia against UNC even in defeat on the offensive end, but allowing 59 points is a red flag. The good news is that Wake Forest hasn’t been the stoutest defense in years past, the bad news is that I think Wake Forest is the more complete team here and I just like what they’ve done up to this point in the year. IT’s a tight line, but I think this could be a field goal game either way if Wake doesn’t win outright. Give me Wake Forest and the points here.
