The Florida Gators meet the Tennessee Volunteers Saturday in Week 4 SEC College Football action from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville. Kick-off is at 7:00p Eastern. Tennessee is coming off a matchup versus Tennessee Tech this past weekend. The Volunteers rolled to a shutout win in that one. As for Florida, they played Alabama in their last matchup. In that game the Gators took a tough three-point defeat. Check back all season long for free college football picks at Sports Chat Place.
Tennessee didn’t have any trouble with Bowling Green in their opening-week game despite starting slow with a 14-6 first half. The Vols ended up posting a 38-6 win to start the season. In game two versus Pittsburgh Tennessee gave up 27 points in the second quarter during a 41-34 loss.
Last weekend versus Tennessee Tech, the Volunteers didn’t have any issues scoring in a 56-0 blowout win. Vols QB Hendon Hooker had 199 yards and three scores on 17-of-25 passing, and also led the rush with 64 yards and a score from nine carries.
Over on the Florida side, they held Florida Atlantic scoreless for three quarters in their opening game, cruising to a 35-14 victory. The Gators were able to keep it going in game two versus South Florida. Florida led 35-3 at the half and eventually notched a 42-20 blowout win.
In game three versus Alabama, Florida came back from a 21-3 first-quarter deficit but couldn’t bridge the gap in a rough 31-29 loss. QB Emory Jones had 181 yards with a pick, and Malik Davis led the rush on 96 yards and a score from 10 carries.

The Vols are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 overall and 2-6 ATS in their last eight conference games. Tennessee is 1-3-1 ATS in their last five road games as well.
Meanwhile, the Gators are 4-1 ATS in their last five after a straight-up loss and 5-2 ATS versus a team with a winning record. Florida is also 1-3-1 ATS in their last five conference games.
PICK: I’m going to go with Florida. The Gators gave Alabama a huge scare, playing very well in a close loss. Florida notched 439 yards of total offense with 258 rush yards and 26 first downs. They probably would have beaten just about any other team in the country with that effort.
As for the Volunteers, they did whatever they wanted against an overmatched Tennessee Tech team last weekend, notching 24 first downs and 202 rushing yards. Tennessee was 4-of-5 on fourth-down tries and averaged 5.3 yards per play. Still, Florida marks a huge upgrade in competition and I think the Gators have the edge in this one.
