The Kentucky Wildcats meet the LSU Tigers Saturday in SEC 2021 week 6 college football action from Kroger Field in Lexington. LSU just finished up a game versus Auburn last weekend. In that one the Tigers took a rough five-point loss. As for the Wildcats, they played Florida in their last outing. Kentucky ended up winning that one by a touchdown. LSU took a difficult loss to UCLA in their opener, falling 38-27. The Tigers immediately turned things around in week two however, beating McNeese State 34-7. Over the next pair of outings, LSU beat Central Michigan 49-21 and Mississippi State 28-25 to move to 3-1 on the year.

Last weekend versus Auburn, LSU coughed up 14 fourth-quarter points to blow a lead in a 24-19 loss. QB Max Johnson finished on 325 yards with one TD and one interception. Kayshon Boutte had six catches for 127 yards and a score to lead the receivers.

Over on the Kentucky side, they started out their 2021 campaign versus LA-Monroe and rolled to a 45-10 win. The Wildcats kept it going with a 35-28 win over Missouri, then another couple of close wins versus Chattanooga 28-23 and South Carolina 16-10.

In game five versus Florida, the Wildcats ended up outscoring the Gators 13-3 in the second half during a thrilling 20-13 victory. QB Will Levis had 87 yards, one TD and one pick passing, and Chris Rodriguez rushed for 99 yards and a score off 19 carries.

The Tigers are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 6-1 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss. LSU is 17-8 ATS in their last 25 in October.

Meanwhile, the Wildcats are 4-0-1 ATS in their last five conference games and 4-1 ATS in their last five overall. Kentucky is 4-1 ATS in their last five on grass as well.

PICK: I’m going to stick with Kentucky. This should be a fun matchup, though; both these teams played hard against good schools last weekend. The Wildcats had just 224 yards of offense in their victory, but also played a clean game with only four penalties and one turnover.

As for LSU, they really only had one bad quarter versus Auburn, and that’s what did the team in. The Tigers’ passing game was working pretty well though (325 yards) and they ran 71 total plays on the day. I like this game to be close most of the way, but I think Kentucky will ultimately bag the cover.
