The LSU Tigers and Florida Gators do battle in a week 7 SEC college football game Saturday afternoon from Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge. Florida is fresh off a matchup versus Vanderbilt last weekend. The Gators ended up cruising to a huge shutout win. As for the Tigers, they played Kentucky in their last outing. In that one LSU lost by three touchdowns. Florida kicked off the season with two strong performances, taking out Florida Atlantic 35-14 and South Florida 42-20. After their first loss to Alabama 31-29, the Gators beat Tennessee 38-14 before falling again to Kentucky 20-13.

In game six versus Vanderbilt, the Gators scored 21 points in the third quarter alone on the way to a dominant 42-0 shutout win. Florida QB Emory Jones managed 273 yards with four scores and one interception, while Jacob Copeland caught five balls for 79 yards and a touchdown.

Over on the Tigers’ side, they lost their opener to UCLA 38-27 but bounced back quickly. LSU beat McNeese State 34-7, Central Michigan 49-21 and MS State 28-25 over their next trio. The Tigers couldn’t top Auburn, however; LSU fell in a tough 24-19 defeat.

Last weekend against Kentucky, LSU gave up 28 second-half points during an eventual 42-21 defeat. QB Max Johnson put up 261 yards with one TD on 22-of-38 passing. Tyrion Davis-Price had 147 yards and two rush scores, and Kayshon Boutte had 73 yards from eight catches.

The Gators are 4-1 ATS in their last five conference games and 0-5 ATS in their last five road games. Florida is 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven after a straight-up win as well.

Meanwhile, the Tigers are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 after an ATS loss and 1-4 ATS in their last five games in October. The over is also 7-2 in LSU’s last nine home games.

PICK: I’m going to try Florida here. The Gators dominated Vanderbilt in most statistical categories last weekend, notching 479 total yards (181 on the ground) and 7.7 yards per play. It wasn’t all perfect, though; Florida was spotty on third downs (2-for-9) and committed eight penalties. Still, there’s not much to complain about when you win by 42 points and hold your opponent scoreless.

As for LSU, they couldn’t stop Kentucky on the ground in their last game, giving up 330 rush yards and 7.7 yards per play in the loss. If the Tigers fall behind early here, it’s going to be another long game.
