The SMU Mustangs and Tulane Green Wave meet in week 8 AAC college football action from Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas, Texas on Thursday night.

The Tulane Green Wave will be looking to rebound from a 40-22 loss to Houston in their last matchup. Michael Pratt’s thrown for 1,364 yards, 13 touchdowns and 5 INTs on 60% passing while Cameron Carroll’s leading the Green Wave with 272 rushing yards. Tyrick James leads Tulane’s receivers with 343 receiving yards while Jaetavian Toles and Duece Watts each have 200+ receiving yards and five additional Tulane receivers each have 100+ receiving yards this season. On defense, Macon Clark leads the Green Wave with 40 total tackles while Noah Seiden and JoJo Dorceus each have a team-high 2.5 sacks this season.

The SMU Mustangs will look to build off of their 31-24 win over Navy in their last game. Tanner Mordecai’s thrown for 1,893 yards, 26 touchdowns and 7 interceptions on 71% passing while Ulysses Bentley IV and Tre Siggers have combined for 797 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns to lead SMU’s ground attack. Danny Gray leads SMU in receiving with 30 grabs for 469 yards and 7 touchdowns while Rashee Rice and Reggie Roberson Jr each have 300+ receiving yards, combining for 740 receiving yards and 10 TDs. On defense, Gary Wlley leads SMU with 4 sacks while Shaine Hailey has a team-high 37 total tackles this season.

Tulane is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 games as an underdog. SMU is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games against a team with a losing road record while the under is 7-1 in their last 8 games as a road favorite.

I get the case that could be made for the over here as SMU has a tendency to score points in bunches and Tulane has the talent to hang some of their own. However, Tulane has had trouble scoring this season even though they’ve had a reputation of being in offensive shootouts in the past. The thing is, the past is the past and Tulane’s having issues and SMU’s getting the job done defensively these days as well. I’ll side with the under here.
