The UConn Huskies and Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders meet in week 8 AAC college football action from Pratt & Whitney Stadium in East Hartford, Connecticut on Friday night.

The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders come into this one looking to rebound from a 41-13 beatdown loss to Liberty last time out, but their bye week last week should help. Chase Cunningham has thrown for 973 yards, 12 touchdowns and 2 interceptions on 60.9% passing while Chaton Mobley and Amir Rasul each have 100+ rushing yards this year. Jimmy Marshal leads the Blue Raiders’ receivers with 25 grabs for 329 yards with 3 scores while Jarrin Pierce and Jaylin Lane each have 200+ receiving yards, combining for 470 yards and 7 touchdowns this season. MTSU also has another four 100+ yard receivers this season. On defense, Reed Blankenship leads Middle Tennessee with 55 total tackles while Gregory Grate Jr. has 52 total tackles and Jordan Ferguson’s got a team-high 4 sacks this season.

The UConn Huskies will be out to build on their first W of the year, a 21-15 win over Yale last time out. Steven Krajewski leads the Huskies with 701 passing yards, 5 touchdowns and 5 interceptions while Nathan Carter has a team-high 439 rushing yards and Kevin Mensah has 219 rushing yards. Keelan Marion leads the Huskies in receiving with 19 grabs for 346 yards while the Huskies feature another three 100+ yard receivers on the year. Defensively, Jackson Mitchell leads the Huskies with 78 total tackles while Travis Jones has a team-high 2.5 sacks this season.

Middle Tennessee is 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a losing record and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games as a favorite while the under is 5-1-1 in their last 7 non-conference games. UConn is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games as an underdog and 25-54-2 ATS in their last 81 games overall while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games following a win.

Well give credit to UConn for getting a win so that Randy Edsall didn’t leave the school with a goose egg in his final season, but you beat Yale. Congrats. On the other hand, I’m not laying points with Middle Tennessee on the road as they’ve gone 0-4 ATS on the road this season. It’s the first time they’re laying points sure, but there hasn’t been much to like about Middle Tennessee. Instead, I’ll side with the under. Against FBS teams, Middle Tennessee’s scored 14 or less three times in four games and UConn, well they’re averaging 16.8 PPG on the year to give you an idea of how bad they’ve been. Give me the under.
