The Kent State Golden Flashes and Northern Illinois Huskies meet Wednesday in week 10 college football MAC-tion from Dix Stadium in Kent, Ohio.

The Northern Illinois Huskies will be out to build on their 5th straight win after a 39-38 win over Central Michigan in their last outing. Rocky Lombardi has thrown for 1,321 yards, 9 touchdowns and 6 interceptions while Harrison Waylee leads the Huskies in rushing with 574 rushing yards while Jay Ducker has 478 rushing yards and another three Huskies have at least 200 rushing yards this season. Tyrice Richie leads NIU’s receivers with 40 grabs for 480 yards while Trayvon Rudolph has 330 receiving yards with 4 TD catches and Cole Tucker has 206 receiving yards as well this season. On defense, CJ Brown leads the Huskies with 57 total tackles while Devonte O’Malley has a team-high 2.5 sacks.

The Kent State Golden Flashes will be out to add to their 34-27 win over Ohio in their last game. Dustin Crum has thrown for 1,770 yards, 9 touchdowns and 2 interceptions on 62.3% passing while Marquez Cooper leads the Golden Flashes with 558 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns. Xavier Williams has 378 rushing yards and Crum has 368 rushing yards with 6 scores this season. Dante Cephas leads the Golden Flashes in receiving with 50 catches for 683 yards and 6 touchdowns while Nykeim Johnson has 403 receiving yards and Keshunn Abram has 360 receiving yards as well on the year. On defense, Dean Clark leads the Golden Flashes with 56 total tackles while Keith Sherald Jr., Elvis Hines and Montre Miller all have 3 interceptions apiece this season.

Northern Illinois is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 40-18-2 ATS in their last 60 road games while the over is 8-2 in their last 10 games following a win. Kent State is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 home games and 12-5 ATS in their last 17 conference games while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 games following a win.

I get why Kent State would be favored at home, but I’m still sticking with Northern Illinois and the points. The Huskies have been a solid cover team all year long at home and both teams have a bad defense and the Huskies are scoring more points per game than the Golden Flashes. Kent State is just one of the worst overall defenses in the country and giving up five points with them is not something I want to sign up for. Give me Northern Illinois and the points here.
