The Central Michigan Chippewas and Eastern Michigan Eagles clash Friday afternoon in week 13 MWC college football action from Kelly/Shorts Stadium in Mount Pleasant. Eastern Michigan is 2-1 in their last three outings and coming off a comeback victory over Western Michigan. As for Central Michigan, they played Ball State last week. In that one, the Chippewas put up a 20-point win. Check back all season long for free college football picks at Sports Chat Place.

Eastern Michigan went 3-1 over their first four games this year, then had a 2-2 stretch that featured wins over Miami-OH and Bowling Green. Since then the Eagles have beaten Toledo, lost to Ohio and beaten Western Michigan.

Eastern Michigan was down 21-16 heading into the fourth quarter, but used a couple of late turnovers to come back in a 22-21 win. Jawon Hamilton rushed for 179 yards on 19 carries, and Hassan Beydoun caught five balls for 48 yards and a score.

Over on the Central Michigan side, they posted a 2-2 run over their first four games this year. In the next quartet the Chippewas were 2-2 again with wins over Ohio and Toledo. Central Michigan then beat Western Michigan and Kent State in their next pair.

In last Wednesday’s matchup versus Ball State, the Chippewas scored 21 points in the second quarter alone on the way to a 37-17 victory. QB Daniel Richardson put up 283 yards with two TDs and two picks. Lew Nichols added 219 yards with three rush TDs on 32 carries.

The Eagles are 25-9 ATS in their last 34 road games and 0-4 ATS in the last four Friday games. EMU is 4-10 ATS in their last 14 after an ATS win.
Meanwhile, CMU is 4-1 ATS in their last five overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five conference games. The Chippewas are 24-9 ATS in their last 33 in November.

PICK: I’m going to try Central Michigan in this one. The Chippewas offense was great in the win over Ball State, with 567 total yards (285 rushing), 7.9 yards per play and 26 first downs. Central Michigan held Ball State to a tepid 4.6 yards per play and 4-of-14 on third-down tries as well.

As for Eastern Michigan, they put up a valiant win in their last outing. The Eagles collected 422 yards along the way with 6.3 yards per play, but they were ugly on third downs with just two of 14 made. EMU won’t be able to keep up if they don’t get their offense going quickly in this one.
