The New Mexico Lobos and Utah State Aggies meet Friday afternoon in week 13 MWC college football action from DreamStyle Stadium in Albuquerque.
The Utah State Aggies will attempt to bounce back from a 44-17 loss at the hands of Wyoming in their last matchup. Logan Bonner has thrown for 2,930 yards, 27 touchdowns and 10 interceptions on 59.7% passing while Calvin Tyler Jr. and Elelyon Noa have a combined 1,205 rushing yards and 9 TDs this season. Deven Thompkins leads Utah State with 1,508 receiving yards on 82 catches with 9 touchdowns while Brandon Bowling and Derek Wright each have 500+ receiving yards and 6 TDs this season. On defense, Justin Rice leads the Aggies with 95 total tackles and 3 interceptions while Shaw Bond and Ajani Carter each have 3 interceptions as well and Nick Heninger has 5 sacks.
The New Mexico Lobos could use a win as well after a 37-0 beatdown loss to Boise State last time out. Terry Wilson has thrown for 1,058 yards, 7 touchdowns and 4 interceptions on 58% passing while Aaron Dumas leads New Mexico i with 658 rushing yards. Luke Wysong has a team-high 24 grabs for 224 yards and another four Lobos have at least 100 receiving yards as well this season. On defense, Jerrick Reed II leads the Lobos with 81 total tackles while Joey Noble has a team-high 4.5 sacks and Dion Hunter has 4 sacks as well this season.
Utah State is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a loss and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games while the under is 5-1-1 in their last 7 games as a road favorite. New Mexico is 17-38 ATS in their last 55 games overall and 9-25 ATS in their last 34 conference games while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 games as an underdog.
I get the case that could be made both ways here, as this is a lot of points to give up with a home dog but the Aggies are the better team here. With that said, the Lobos have been dreadful against the number this season and don’t even have bowl eligibility as an incentive for this game. Utah State’s looking to build momentum and with some help, a spot in the Mountain West title game is still a possibility. Give me the Aggies in a beatdown.
