The Kent State Golden Flashes meet the Miami-OH RedHawks on Saturday in week 13 MAC college football action from Dix Stadium. Miami-OH played Bowling Green last Tuesday. The RedHawks managed a big win in that one. As for the Flashes, they’re coming off a game versus Akron. Kent State ended up winning that one in a shutout. Miami-OH lost three of their first four games, the only win coming courtesy of LIU. After that the RedHawks hit a solid run with a one-point loss to Eastern Michigan as the only blemish in a 3-1 stretch. Miami-OH would then lose to Ohio and beat Buffalo.

In last week’s matchup versus Bowling Green, the RedHawks bagged another win, this time 34-7. Miami-OH scored 14 points in both the second and third quarters. Quarterback Brett Gabbert finished with 227 yards, two TDs and one pick. Tyre Shelton scored twice rushing.

Over on the Kent State side, they started off slow this year with one win in their first four games as well. The Golden Flashes would go 4-2 in their next six games, taking out Bowling Green, Buffalo, Ohio and Northern Illinois in that stretch.

In the Akron game last weekend, Kent State had few issues in a 38-0 victory. The Flashes had built up a 29-0 lead by halftime. The big contributors for the offense were Marquez Cooper (135 yards; TD) and Dustin Crum (114 yards; 2 TD).

The RedHawks are 20-8 ATS in their last 28 conference games and 10-4 ATS in their last 14 in November. Miami-OH is 1-4 ATS in the last five after an ATS win.

Meanwhile, the Flashes are 4-1 ATS in their last five at home and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 in November. Kent State is 14-6 ATS in their last 20 conference games.

PICK: I’m going to try Miami-OH here. The RedHawks have a few things to clean up from last week, though. Miami-OH put up 346 yards against Bowling Green with 6.1 yards per play, but stumbled with just 11 first downs and an ugly 2-of-14 mark on third- and fourth-down tries.

As for Kent State, they played great against Akron, with 495 yards—410 of those coming on the ground. The Flashes probably won’t be able to be so one-dimensional here though, so look for some additional emphasis on putting together more passing looks.
