The Minnesota Golden Gophers and Wisconsin Badgers clash Saturday in week 13 Big Ten college football action from TCF Bank Stadium. Wisconsin is coming off a matchup against Nebraska last weekend. The Badgers would end up winning by a touchdown. As for Minnesota, they played Indiana in their last game. In that one the Gophers won by 21 points. Wisconsin lost to Penn State, Notre Dame and Michigan over their first four games this year. The Badgers righted the ship over their next half-dozen outings however, beating Illinois, Army, Purdue, Iowa, Rutgers and Northwestern in that span.

On Saturday versus Nebraska, Wisconsin made things interesting by allowing points in every quarter, but still were able to fend off the Cornhuskers 35-28. QB Graham Mertz put up 145 yards and a TD, and Braelon Allen added 228 yards with three scores on 22 carries.

Over on the Minnesota side, they lost two of their first four to Ohio State and Bowling green, then hit a win streak over Purdue, Nebraska, Maryland and Northwestern. The Gophers would then lose to Illinois and Iowa in tight matchups.

In the Saturday game against Indiana, Minnesota scored 21 points in the second quarter on the way to a 35-14 win. QB Tanner Morgan posted 196 yards with two TDs, and Ky Thomas topped the rushing attack on 105 yards and two scores from 26 carries.

The Badgers are 5-1 ATS in their last six conference games and 4-1 ATS in their last five overall. Wisconsin is 20-9 ATS in their last 29 road games.

Meanwhile, the Gophers are 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 conference games and 4-1 ATS versus a team with a winning record. Minnesota is 5-2 ATS in their last seven overall.

PICK: I’m going to try Minnesota in this one. The Gophers had a decent offensive day against Indiana, with 391 yards total, 5.8 yards per play and 20 first downs. It wasn’t an overwhelming effort, but it was steady the whole game and kept the Hoosiers off the field with 36:43 in time of possession.

As for Wisconsin, they gave up 452 yards, 6.5 yards per play and 23 first downs to Nebraska in their last outing. The Badgers were a tepid 3-of-9 on third-down tries, but also notched 8.1 yards per play on average. This should be a fun matchup, but I like Minnesota slightly better on a potential cover.
