The Stanford Cardinal and Notre Dame Fighting Irish clash Saturday night in week 13 college football action from Stanford Stadium. Notre Dame played Georgia Tech back on Saturday. In that one the Irish rolled in a blowout win. As for Stanford, they’re fresh off a game versus California. The Cardinal ended up losing by 30 points. Notre Dame won their first four outings this year, then took a tough 24-13 loss to Cincinnati in game five. After that the Irish picked it back up again, taking out Virginia Tech, USC, North Carolina, Navy and Virginia in succession.

On Saturday versus Georgia Tech, Notre Dame was up 45-0 at halftime and ran away with a 55-0 shutout victory. QB Jack Coan finished with 285 yards and two scores, and Tyler Buchner led the rush with 67 yards on five carries.

Over on the Stanford side, they went 3-3 over their first three games. The nicest victory was a 31-24 overtime affair versus Oregon. The Cardinal hit the skids after that however, losing to Washington State, Washington, Utah and Oregon State.

The Cardinal played California in their last outing. Stanford gave up double-digit points in each of the last three quarters in a 41-11 loss. QB Tanner McKee threw for 239 yards and two interceptions, and Austin Jones led the rush with 28 yards and a score.

The Irish are 6-0 ATS in the last six overall and 6-0 ATS in the last six non-conference games. Notre Dame is 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games.

Meanwhile, the Cardinal are 2-6 ATS in their last eight non-conference games and 1-7 ATS in their last eight at home. Stanford is 0-6 ATS in their last six overall.

PICK: I’m going with Notre Dame. The Irish did just about everything right in their big win over Georgia Tech, with 514 yards, 8.7 yards per play, 23 first downs and two takeaways. It was a nice overall effort and I like Notre Dame to keep rolling in this one.

As for Stanford, they coughed up 636 yards of offense to Cal in their last game, giving up 10.1 yards per play. The offense couldn’t really get going either, with 4.0 yards per play and two picks. I don’t think they’ll bounce back well enough to cover here.
