The Florida Gators and USF Bulls clash Saturday afternoon in week 3 college football action at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The South Florida Bulls look to get a game above a .500 record. The Florida Gators also look to build on their 1-1 record.

The South Florida Bulls haven’t won a road game since October 2019. Gerry Bohanon is completing 58.6 percent of his passes for 391 yards, 0 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Xavier Weaver and Jimmy Horn Jr. combined for 232 receiving yards on 16 catches, while Omarion Dollison has 1 reception. The South Florida Bulls ground game is averaging 163 yards per contest, and Brian Battie leads the way with 119 yards and 2 touchdowns. Defensively, South Florida is allowing 35 points and 497 yards per game. Mekhi LaPointe leads the South Florida Bulls with 14 tackles, Jonathan Ross has 1 sack and Jayden Curry has 1 interception.

The Florida Gators have won 5 of their last 6 home games. Anthony Richardson is completing 52.5 percent of his passes for 311 yards, 0 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Ricky Pearsall and Xzavier Henderson have combined for 197 receiving yards on 18 catches, while Justin Shorter has 4 receptions. The Florida Gators ground game is averaging 210 yards per contest, and Montrell Johnson Jr. leads the way with 137 yards and 1 touchdown. Defensively, Florida is allowing 26 points and 378.5 yards per game. Trey Dean III leads the Florida Gators with 21 tackles, Justus Boone has 1 sack and Gervon Dexter Sr. has 1 interception.

The Bulls are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games in September. The Gators are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games and 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games on grass. The over is 13-6-1 in Bulls last 20 games overall. The under is 4-1 in Gators last 5 games overall.

The Florida Gators are better than what they showed last week, and they should have a nasty taste in their mouth after falling apart against Kentucky. That could lead to a blowout victory. However, Florida is also a team that’s still trying to piece things together with a new coaching staff and young quarterback. Florida has yet to really string together good possessions, and it allows opponents to hang around. The USF Bulls aren’t good, especially on the road, but they were able to find late success against BYU in their opener, for what’s that worth. Also, motivation is on USF’s side, as I’m sure lots of these players would have liked to go to a bigger Florida school. The Gators have rival Tennessee on deck. Possible look ahead spot? Either way, it’s points or pass for me.
