The Miami Hurricanes and Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders square off Saturday in week 4 college football action from Hard Rock Stadium. The Blue Raiders just finished up a game versus Tennessee State back on Saturday. Middle Tennessee ended up taking a blowout victory there. As for Miami, they’re coming off a matchup against Texas A&M. In that one, the Hurricanes lost by eight points. Check back all season long for free college football picks at Sports Chat Place.

Middle Tennessee got off to a rough start in their opener. The Blue Raiders gave up 21 points in the second quarter alone in a 44-7 loss to James Madison. Game two against Colorado State went much better for the Raiders, however; they would go on to a 34-19 victory.

In game three versus Tennessee State, Middle Tennessee didn’t have a ton of trouble, scoring 42 points in the first half on the way to a 49-6 blowout victory. QB Chase Cunningham finished on 216 yards and two scores, while Frank Peasant rushed 13 times for 122 yards and three TDs.

Over on the Miami side, they got right down to business in their 2022 opener versus Bethune-Cookman, drilling the Wildcats for a 70-13 blowout win. Miami’s matchup against Southern Miss was another big victory, this time a 30-7 result to move the team to 2-0.

Back on Saturday against Texas A&M, the Hurricanes were held to a trio of field goals and couldn’t find much room in a 17-9 loss. Tyler Van Dyke posted 217 pass yards, while Henry Parrish led the rush with 85 yards. Will Mallory topped the receivers with 56 yards from six grabs.

The Raiders are 4-1 ATS in the last five overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five non-conference games. MTSU is 2-5 ATS in the last seven versus the ACC.

Meanwhile, the Hurricanes are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 at home and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 non-conference games. Miami is 2-6 ATS in their last eight in September.

PICK: I’m probably sticking with Miami, but you wouldn’t be crazy for taking the Raiders on a value play here. The Hurricanes had the misfortune of going up against a pretty darn good Texas A&M team over the weekend, and though their stats weren’t bad (27 first downs, one turnover) Miami couldn’t capitalize on any opportunities. I like the Hurricanes to bounce back in this one.

As for Middle Tennessee, they probably looked a little better facing a not-so-good Tennessee State team, but all things considered they’re still having a solid campaign so far. I think Middle Tennessee is just a bit too overmatched in this one, however.
