USC didn’t have any trouble against Rice in their 2022 opener. The Trojans surged to a 66-14 blowout victory to start the year off with a bang. Game two against Stanford was more of the same. The Trojans surged to a 35-14 halftime lead and ended up with a 41-28 win.

In game three versus Fresno State, USC was up 21-10 by halftime. The Trojans scored in every quarter on the way to a 45-17 win. QB Caleb Williams managed 284 yards and two scores. while Austin Jones rushed for 110 yards and a TD on 12 carries to lead the team.

Over on the Oregon State side, they got off to a 24-0 halftime lead in their opener versus Boise State and cruised to the 34-17 win. The Beavers had a little more trouble in their second game versus Fresno State, however. Oregon State scored 14 in the final quarter to cap a 35-32 win.

Back on Saturday against Montana State, the Beavers scored a whopping 47 points across the second and third quarters during a 68-28 win. QB Chance Nolan threw for 276 yards and four scores. Tre’Shaun Harrison was the top receiver with 133 yards and a TD on eight grabs.

The Trojans are 4-1 ATS in their last five overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five in September. USC is 1-5 ATS in their last six conference games.
Meanwhile, the Beavers are 6-0 ATS in their last six in September and 8-1 ATS in their last nine at home. Oregon State is 8-2 ATS versus a team with a winning record.

PICK: I’m going to try USC in this one. I could see it going either way, however. Both teams are coming off big wins, which adds some more intrigue to this matchup. In any case, USC had very little trouble versus Fresno State over the weekend, bagging 517 total yards, 29 first downs and zero turnovers. The Trojans are rolling right along so far this year.

As for Oregon State, they likewise had a great game on 538 total yards, 31 first downs and a nice 10-of-12 on third-down tries. This will be the toughest test of the year for the Beavers, and being at home I can see them putting up a good fight. I still think USC bangs out the cover, but it’ll be a good matchup regardless.
