The NC State Wolfpack and UConn Huskies do battle Saturday in week 4 college football action from Carter-Finley Stadium.

The UConn Huskies will be out to rebound from a 59-0 loss at the hands of Michigan last time out. Zion Turner’s thrown for 390 yards, 4 touchdowns and 3 interceptions on 51.2% passing while Nathan Carter leads the Huskies on the ground with 405 yards and a score this season. Aaron Turner leads the Huskies with 13 catches for 163 receiving yards as well this season. On defense, Jackson Mitchell leads UConn with 49 total tackles including a team-high 23 solo tackles while the UConn defense has 9 sacks as a unit this season.

The NC State Wolfpack will try to add to their 27-14 win over Texas Tech last time out. Devin Leary’s thrown for 570 yards, 5 touchdowns and a pick on 59.3% passing while Demie Sumo-Karngbaye leads NC State with 203 rushing yards and a pair of TDs this season. Thayer Thomas and Sumo-Karngbaye each have a team-high 102 receiving yards this season. On defense, Derrek Pitts Jr., Drake Thomas and Tanner Ingle each have a team-high 18 total tackles while Aydan White and Tyler Baker-Williams each have a pair of interceptions this season.

UConn is 1-6-2 ATS in their last 9 games against the ACC and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS loss while the over is 4-0-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record. NC State is 12-3 ATS in their last 15 home games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 6-2 in their last 8 home games.

I get the reasoning for backing either side as this is a ton to give up even to a team like UConn, but NC State is the far better team and getting a big number hasn’t stopped UConn from not covering this season. That being said, I think the better play is the over here. UConn was run over by Michigan and even not scoring we still hit our over, and if UConn found paydirt it would make it even easier. NC State’s got a very talented offense that could light up UConn here, but laying this number always feels like it’s asking for a backdoor cover. I’ll side with the over here as I’m expecting lots of points here, even if it’s just one-sided.
