The Pittsburgh Panthers and Rhode Island Rams square off Saturday in week 4 college football action from Heinz Field. Rhode Island is fresh off a matchup versus Delaware. In that game, the Rams took a 21-point loss. As for Pitt, they’re coming off a game against Western Michigan. The Panthers ended up winning that game in a blowout. Rhode Island didn’t have too much trouble in their 2022 opener versus Stony Brook, eventually powering out a 35-14 win. Game two against Bryant wasn’t too bad for the Rams, either. Rhode Island scored 20 in the second quarter during a 35-21 victory.

In the Delaware matchup, Rhode Island coughed up 28 points in the second quarter alone during a 42-21 defeat. QB Kasim Hill managed 179 yards with two scores on 16-of-37 passing. Gabe Sloat had a 65-yard rush TD, and Kahtero Summers scored twice with 78 yards on five catches.

Over on the Pittsburgh side, they outscored West Virginia 28-21 in the second half of their opener to power out a 38-31 victory. Game two was another tough one for the Panthers, this time versus Tennessee. Pittsburgh eventually fell 34-27 in overtime during that one.

Back on Saturday versus Western Michigan, the Panthers scored in every quarter during a 34-13 victory. QB Nate Yarnell managed 179 yards with a TD on 9-of-12 passing. Israel Abanikanda rushed 31 times for 133 yards and a score as well.

PICK: I’m probably staying with Pittsburgh but the line’s too thick to mess around with. The Panthers were quite impressive versus Western Michigan on Saturday, logging 417 total yards (238 of those on the ground) with just one turnover and a 38:36 mark in time of possession. Defensively, Pitt held the Broncos to just 10 first downs and 180 total yards.

As for Rhode Island, they coughed up 610 total yards and 30 first downs to Delaware. The offense wasn’t working great either with just 299 total yards and 2-of-12 on third-down tries. It’s going to be tough for the Rams to bounce back this week.
