The Nebraska Cornhuskers and Indiana Hoosiers clash Saturday in Big Ten week 5 college football action from Memorial Stadium Lincoln. Indiana is fresh off a matchup versus Cincinnati. In that one the Hoosiers lost in a blowout. As for Nebraska, they’re coming off an open week. The Cornhuskers fell to Oklahoma in their last appearance. Indiana took on Illinois in their first game of the year and emerged victorious with a 23-20 result. The Hoosiers kept it going in week two versus Idaho with a 35-22 win, then played a tough one against Western Kentucky. Indiana escaped with a 33-30 OT victory there.

In the week four matchup versus Cincinnati, the Hoosiers were down 38-10 by halftime in a 45-24 defeat. QB Connor Bazelak finished with 280 yards, two touchdowns and two picks. Shaun Shivers led the rushing attack with 79 yards and a score on 19 carries.

Over on the Nebraska side, they took a loss right out of the gate this year, falling to Northwestern 31-28. The Cornhuskers got their first win of the year 38-17 over North Dakota, then fell 45-42 to Georgia Southern in the next game.

Back on September 17 versus Oklahoma, the Cornhuskers were down 35-7 by halftime. It didn’t get much better in a 49-14 blowout loss. QB Casey Thompson posted 129 yards and a score, while Gabe Ervin led the rush with 60 yards on seven carries.

PICK: I’m probably staying with Indiana. Even though the Hoosiers fell to Cincinnati over the weekend, they still didn’t play that badly—outside of a couple areas. Indiana had 348 total yards with 27 first downs, but also managed just 3.3 yards per play and coughed up three turnovers. They’ll need to clean some things up and get that offense moving again this weekend.

As for Nebraska, they’ve certainly had some struggles this year. The Cornhuskers understandably couldn’t do much against Oklahoma, but they’re also struggling against teams they should be competitive with as well. Nebraska has given up 31 or more points in three of four games so far, and they’ll be going up against another capable offense here.
