The Virginia Tech Hokies and Miami Hurricanes sqaure off Saturday in a week 7 ACC college football game from Lane Stadium.
The Miami Hurricanes will look to bounce back from their 3rd straight loss, sitting at 2-3 on the year after a 27-24 loss at the hands of North Carolina in their last game. Tyler Van Dyke has thrown for 1,305 yards, 7 touchdowns and 4 interceptions on 64% passing while Henry Parrish Jr. has a team-high 378 rushing yards and 4 TDs and Thaddius Franklin Jr. has 5 rushing scores this season. Will Mallory leads Miami’s receiving group with 20 grabs for 242 yards while six more Hurricanes have at least 100 receiving yards this season. On defense, Corey Flagg Jr. has a team-high 30 total tackles while Jahfari Harvey has a team-high 2.5 sacks as part of Miami’s 15 sacks as a team this year.
The Virginia Tech Hokies will also be out to snap a three-game losing skid of their own after a 45-29 loss to Pitt last time out. Grant Wells has thrown for 1,260 yards, 6 touchdowns and 7 interceptions on 58.8% passing while Keshawn King leads the Hokies with 257 rushing yards and a score. Kaleb Smith has a team-high 402 receiving yards and 25 receptions this season. On defense, Dax Hollifield has a team-high 47 total tackles including 20 solo tackles while Armani Chatman has an interception and the Hokie defense as a unit has 11 combined sacks as well this year.
Miami is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games following a loss. Virginia Tech is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 2-7 ATS in their last 9 home games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games following an ATS loss.
I get the case to be made for Virginia Tech as Blacksburg can be a tough place to play for opposing teams and Miami has had their issues as of late. However, this is a different Virginia Tech team, not in a good way and I’m really not liking what I’m seeing from the Hokies, especially under center as I’m just not a fan of Grant Wells, especially in this system. I think this is a good spot for Miami to iron out whatever issues they have going on right now with an inept Virginia Tech offense on the other side.
