The Auburn Tigers and Texas A&M Aggies meet Saturday in week 11 SEC college football action from Jordan-Hare. Texas A&M played Florida over the weekend. In that one the Aggies lost by 17 points. Texas A&M won three of their first four games this year, losing to App State while taking out Sam Houston, Miami-FL and Arkansas. The Aggies would then hit a losing streak versus Mississippi State, Alabama, South Carolina and Ole Miss.
In the Florida game over the weekend, Texas A&M had a 24-20 edge by halftime. The Aggies were outscored 21-0 from there in a 41-24 defeat. QB Haynes King had 279 yards with a TD and Devon Achane had 16 carries for 122 yards and two scores.
Over on the Tigers’ side, they also won three of their first four games this year versus Mercer, San Jose State and Missouri (with a loss to Penn State). Auburn also hit a losing streak afterwards, falling to LSU, Georgia, Ole Miss and Arkansas.
Matched up against Mississippi State, Auburn carried a 24-6 deficit into halftime. The Tigers fought back valiantly from there but ended up losing 39-33 in overtime. QB Robby Ashford had 75 yards passing and rushed 18 times for 108 yards and two touchdowns.
Texas A&M is 1-3-1 ATS in their last five overall and 1-4 ATS in the last five road games. The Aggies are 1-3-1 ATS in the last five conference games.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are 19-7 ATS versus a team with a losing record and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 overall. Auburn is 4-9 ATS in the last 13 on grass.
PICK: I’m going to try Auburn. The Tigers need a nice bounce-back effort after their flat game over the weekend, though. Auburn had just 75 passing yards (331 total) with only 14 first downs and a whopping 14 penalties for 115 yards. There’s plenty to clean up in practice this week.
As for Texas A&M, they weren’t exactly perfect themselves during their last outing. The Aggies put up 413 yards and 23 first downs versus Florida, but also had two turnovers, 22:53 in time of possession and a sketchy 4-of-13 on third downs.
