The Iowa State Cyclones and Baylor Bears clash Saturday in Big 12 Week 4 college football action from Jack Trice Stadium. Baylor just finished up a game versus Texas State. In that one, the Bears posted a blowout win. As for Iowa State, they took on Ohio in their last outing. The Cyclones would go on to an easy victory in that matchup as well. Baylor didn’t have any issues in their 2022 opener versus Albany. The Bears cruised to a nice 69-10 victory in that one. Game two against a tough BYU team was a different story, however. Baylor eventually fell 26-20 in double-overtime to fall to 1-1.

Back on Saturday versus Texas State, the Bears didn’t have a ton of issues. Baylor scored in every quarter on the way to a 42-7 blowout win. QB Blake Shapen had 184 yards with one TD and one pick. Richard Reese did most of the rush work with 156 yards and three scores off 19 carries.

Over on the Iowa State side, they similarly posted a blowout in their opener this year with a 42-10 result versus Southeast Missouri State. In game two, the Cyclones played a much tighter game versus Iowa, but were able to eke out a great 10-7 victory.

Matched up against Ohio, Iowa State jumped out to a 30-3 halftime lead and cruised to the 43-10 win. Hunter Dekkers threw for 268 yards with three scores, and Jirehl Brock posted seven carries for 76 yards. Xavier Hutchinson had 93 yards and a score off nine catches as well.

The Bears are 4-1 ATS in the last five overall and 19-7 ATS versus a team with a winning record. Baylor is 5-2 ATS in their last seven conference games.
Meanwhile, the Cyclones are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 after a straight-up win and 1-4 ATS versus a team with a winning record. Iowa State is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 in Septembe

PICK: I’m going to stick with Iowa State here. This should be a really fun matchup regardless, though. The Cyclones didn’t have much trouble versus Ohio, posting 463 total yards, 22 first downs and holding the opposition to just 2-of-13 on third-down tries. It’s going to take a mighty effort to contend with Baylor here, but I think Iowa State is up to the challenge.

Speaking of Baylor, they rolled right along in their Saturday matchup as well with 23 first downs and 501 total yards. This upcoming game could go a lot of different ways, but I’d imagine it’ll be fairly close regardless.
