The Oklahoma Sooners and Kansas Jayhawks meet Saturday in Big 12 week 7 college football action from OU Memorial Stadium. Kansas is fresh off a matchup versus TCU. In that game the Jayhawks lost by a touchdown. As for Oklahoma, they played Texas in their last game. The Sooners ended up losing in a shutout. Kansas didn’t have any trouble versus Tennessee Tech in their opener (a 56-10 win), but needed overtime to get past West Virginia 55-42 in week two. The Jayhawks would continue to roll in the next few games, taking out Houston 48-30, Duke 35-27 and Iowa State 14-11.

In the TCU game, the Jayhawks were down 10-3 going into the half and couldn’t come back in an eventual 38-31 defeat. QB Jason Bean managed 262 yards with four scores and a pick, and Devin Neal led the rushers on 88 yards from 15 carries.

Over on the Oklahoma side, they kicked off the season with three straight wins over UTEP 45-13, Kent State 33-3 and Nebraska 49-14. The Sooners lost 41-34 to Kansas State, then fell again to TCU 55-24 back on October 1.

Matched up against Texas, the Sooners couldn’t do much of anything. Oklahoma gave up points in every quarter and finished with a dismal 49-0 blowout loss. QB Davis Beville managed just 38 yards and an interception; Jalil Farooq led the rushers on 60 yards from five carries.

PICK: I’m probably staying with Kansas. The Jayhawks didn’t play too badly against a good TCU team over the weekend with 540 total yards, 7.5 yards per play and 22 first downs. Kansas gave up 452 yards, 7.1 yards per play and 21 first downs on the other side, but the team should bounce back and play well here.

As for Oklahoma, that was a forgettable game (to put it mildly) against Texas. The Sooners managed just 195 total yards, 3.3 yards per play and went 3-of-15 on third-down tries. Oklahoma is a better team than that, but I don’t think they’ll cover in this one.
