The West Virginia Mountaineers and Baylor Bears clash Thursday in a Big 12 week 7 college football game from Milan Puskar Stadium. Baylor is sitting at 3-2 so far this year and coming off an open week. As for West Virginia, they’re currently 2-3 and were inactive over the weekend as well. Baylor kicked off their season with a 69-10 blowout win over Albany, then fell 26-20 to BYU in overtime during the second game. The Bears would then go on to take out Texas State 42-7 and edge out Iowa State 31-24 over the next pair.

Back on October 1 in their last game, the Bears took on Oklahoma State. Baylor scored 22 points in the third quarter but ultimately fell short 36-25. QB Blake Shapen put up 345 yards with two scores and two interceptions, while Monaray Baldwin caught seven balls for 174 yards and two touchdowns.

Over on the West Virginia side, their season kicked off with a 38-31 loss to Pittsburgh, then a 55-42 overtime loss to Kansas. The Mountaineers would wrestle their record back up to .500 with wins over Towson 65-7 and Virginia Tech 33-10 in the next pair.

Matched up against Texas back on October 1, the Mountaineers were down 28-7 at the break. West Virginia scored 13 points in the fourth quarter but would lose 38-20. Quarterback JT Daniels finished with 253 yards and a TD, while Bryce Wheaton added 93 yards on eight grabs.

The Bears are 4-1 ATS in their last five on turf and 13-5 in their last 18 overall. Baylor is 1-4 ATS in their last five Thursday games.

Meanwhile, the Mountaineers are 4-1 ATS in their last five Thursday games and 10-3-1 ATS in their last 14 at home. WVU is 2-5 ATS in their last seven on turf.

PICK: I’m probably going to stay with Baylor. This will be an interesting matchup however, with both teams coming off open weeks. The Bears looked pretty good in their last outing versus Oklahoma State, posting 457 total yards and 6.5 yards per play. Baylor posted a couple of interceptions and a paltry 3-of-11 run on third-down tries, though.

As for West Virginia, they were outclassed by Texas in their last game but still put up a respectable 22 first downs, zero turnovers and a 9-of-18 rate on third downs. I like the Mountaineers to keep the pace for most of this game before Baylor ekes into a cover. Should be fun.
