The Central Michigan Chippewas and Western Michigan Broncos do battle Wednesday in week 12 MAC college football action from Kelly/Shorts Stadium. Western Michigan is fresh off a matchup versus Northern Illinois. In that one the Broncos took a three-point loss. As for Central Michigan, they’re coming off a game versus Buffalo. The Chippewas ended up winning by four points. Check back all season long for free college football picks at Sports Chat Place.

Western Michigan started out the season at a rocky 1-3 with losses to Michigan State, Pittsburgh and San Jose State. The next five games were a 2-3 run with losses to Eastern Michigan, Ohio and Bowling Green mixed with wins over New Hampshire and Miami-OH.

In Wednesday’s matchup versus Northern Illinois, the Broncos had a 21-17 lead going into the final quarter. Western Michigan gave up a TD and ended up losing 24-21. QB Treyson Bourguet managed 185 yards with a score and Sean Tyler rushed for 97 yards and a TD.

Over on the Central Michigan side, they started out the year at just 1-5 with losses to Oklahoma State, South Alabama, Penn State, Toledo and Ball State. The Chippewas went 2-1 over the next pair with wins over Northern Illinois and Akron bookending a loss to Bowling Green.

Matched up against Buffalo last week, the Chippewas were down 24-7 by halftime. Central Michigan rallied in the second half however and came up with a 31-27 comeback victory. Bert Emanuel did the bulk of the work with 24 carries for 293 yards and three scores.

The Broncos are 6-2 ATS in their last eight Wednesday games and 5-11-1 ATS in their last 17 conference games. Western Michigan is 2-7 ATS versus a team with a losing record.

Meanwhile, the Chippewas are 15-1-1 ATS in their last 17 Wednesday games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven after an ATS win. Central Michigan is 1-3-1 ATS in their last five at home.

PICK: I might take a stab on Western Michigan here. Probably not going near it, though. The Broncos did some good things in their loss to NIU last week, and had a late lead. WMU’s evening was spoiled with two lost fumbles and a rough 3-of-14 on third downs, though.

As for Central Michigan, they notched a whopping 303 rush yards in their victory versus Buffalo. It was quite the one-sided effort but it was enough. It’ll be interesting to see what the Chippewas have in store offensively for this one.
