Charlotte vs LA Tech 11/19/22 College Football Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Charlotte 49ers and Louisiana Tech Bulldogs meet Saturday in week 12 C-USA college football action from Jerry Richardson Stadium. Louisiana Tech is fresh off a game versus UTSA. In that one the Bulldogs lost in a blowout. As for Charlotte, they played Middle Tennessee in their last outing. The 49ers would end up losing by 10 points. Louisiana Tech lost three of their first four games this year to Missouri, Clemson and South Alabama. The Bulldogs went 2-3 over the next five games, beating UTEP and Middle Tennessee with losses otherwise to North Texas, Rice and FIU. 

In the UTSA matchup, the Bulldogs were down 34-7 by halftime. Louisiana Tech gave up points in every quarter during a 51-7 blowout loss. QB Landry Lyddy posted 138 yards with one TD and two picks. Charvis Thornton rushed eight times for 48 yards. 

Over on the Charlotte side, they lost to FAU, William & Mary and Maryland before a win over Georgia State. After losses to South Carolina, UTEP, UAB and FIU, the 49ers managed a win over Rice before another loss to Western Kentucky. 

In the Middle Tennessee game, the 49ers had a 14-7 lead going into the break. Charlotte failed to score from there in a 24-14 loss. QB Chris Reynolds finished with 277 yards, two scores and a pick. Shadrick Byrd added 50 rush yards on 14 carries. 

The Bulldogs are 0-5 ATS versus a team with a losing record and 0-4 ATS in their last four road games. LA Tech is 4-1 ATS in the last five on turf. 

Meanwhile, the 49ers are 3-10-1 ATS in their last 14 overall and 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 conference games. Charlotte is 0-3-1 ATS in their last four on turf. 

PICK: I’m leaning Charlotte but probably not going near it. There’s not much to like in this one. The 49ers put up some decent numbers against Middle Tennessee in their last game, including 383 yards and 23 first downs. Charlotte still lost however, thanks to a couple turnovers, seven penalties and a few bad breaks. 

As for LA Tech, they were blown off the field by UTSA in their last outing and gave up double-digit points in each of the first three quarters. The Bulldogs should match up much better here but I don’t think they’ll cover.
