The South Carolina Gamecocks and the Clemson Tigers meet in college football action from Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The South Carolina Gamecocks will be out to build on a 63-38 win over Tennessee to improve to 7-4 on the year. Spencer Rattler has thrown for 2,420 yards, 14 touchdowns and 9 interceptions on 66.9% passing while MarShawn Lloyd’s rushed for a team-high 556 yards and 9 touchdowns. Antwane Wells Jr. has a team-high 767 receiving yards and 54 receptions while Jalen Brooks has 471 receiving yards for the Gamecocks as well this season. On defense, Nick Emmanwori has a team-high 72 total tackles including 54 solo tackles while South Carolina’s defensive unit has combined for 17 sacks and 11 interceptions this season.

The Clemson Tigers will hope to build on a 40-10 win over Miami in their last game. DJ Uiagalelei has thrown for 2,406 yards, 21 touchdowns and 5 interceptions on 65.3% passing along with 494 rushing yards and 6 scores while Will Shipley’s rushed for a team-high 960 yards and 13 touchdowns. Antonio Williams has a team-high 47 catches for 506 yards while three more Clemson receivers have at least 300 receiving yards on the year. On defense, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. leads Clemson with 63 total tackles including 32 solo tackles while Myles Murphy has a team-high 6.5 sacks as part of Clemson’s 32 sacks as a unit and Clemson has 9 interceptions as a whole this season.

South Carolina is 1-9-1 ATS in their last 11 games following an ATS win and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games against a team with a winning home record while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games after scoring 40 points or more in their previous game. Clemson is 2-9 ATS in their last 11 non-conference games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games in November while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games against the SEC.

I get the reasoning for backing either side in this game, but I’m going to back Clemson here. I’m not sure the offensive effort from South Carolina is sustainable in back-to-back weeks, especially against a Clemson team that needs to impress to try to leapfrog a couple of teams to get into the college football playoffs. We’ve also seen Clemson’s killer instinct kick in the last couple of games as they’ve been winning with emphasis and the last five meetings have been dominated by Clemson. I’ll lay the points with the Tigers in this spot.
