The Wake Forest Demon Deacons and the Duke Blue Devils meet Saturday in college football action from Wallace Wade Stadium. Wake Forest played Syracuse in their matchup last weekend. The Deacons went on to win by 10 points. As for Duke, they’re coming off a matchup versus Pittsburgh. In that one the Blue Devils lost by two points. Wake Forest got off to a nice start this year, winning their first three outings before an overtime loss to Clemson. Wake beat Florida State, Army and Boston College before a losing streak to Louisville, NC State and North Carolina.

In their Saturday matchup versus Syracuse, the Deacons were up 24-21 going into the second half. Wake Forest kept it going from there in a 45-35 win. QB Sam Hartman managed 331 yards and four scores, while AT Perry caught 10 balls for 119 yards and three touchdowns.

Over on the Duke side, they also won their first three games this year before a loss to Kansas. Over the next six outings, the Blue Devils went 4-2, taking wins over Virginia, Miami-FL, Boston College and Virginia Tech in that span.

Matched up against Pitt on Saturday, the Devils trailed 20-14 by the break. Duke scored 12 points in the final quarter but it wasn’t enough in a 28-26 loss. Riley Leonard threw for 290 yards and three scores, while Jordan Moore caught 14 balls for 199 yards and a TD.

The Deacons are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 on grass and the under is 4-0 in their last four on grass.

Meanwhile, the Devils are 4-1 ATS in their last five overall and 4-0 ATS in their last four on grass. Duke is 4-1 ATS in their last five at home.

PICK: I might take a stab on Duke here. The Blue Devils put up a good fight against Pittsburgh over the weekend, notching 353 total yards (63 rushing), 18 first downs and two lost fumbles in a game that was pretty heavy on big defensive moments. The good news is that Duke has scored pretty well overall this year; they’ve hit 20 or more points in every game so far.

As for Wake Forest, they posted a pretty nice effort in their win over Syracuse over the weekend. Wake had 543 total yards and a whopping 36 first downs along the way. This should be a pretty good matchup overall; I like Wake to do well also.
