Week 6: Louisiana-Monroe vs Coastal Carolina 10/8/22 College Football Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks and Coastal Carolina Chanticleers square off Saturday in a week 6 Sun Belt college football game from Malone Stadium.

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will look to remain unbeaten, improving to 5-0 last time out with a 34-30 win over Georgia Southern. Grayson McCall has thrown for 1,336 yards, 14 touchdowns and an interception with a 69.7% completion percentage while CJ Beasley has a team-high 409 rushing yards while Reese White has 245 rushing yards as well this season. Jared Brown has a team-high 392 receiving yards with 3 TDs while Sam Pinckney has a team-high 28 grabs for 377 yards. On defense, Charles Arnold Jr. and Lance Boykin each have a pair of interceptions. JT Killen has 36 total tackles and as a unit, Coastal Carolina has 13 sacks and 8 interceptions this season.

The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks will try to rebound and find some consistency going forward, alternating wins and losses in each of their first 5 games after a 45-28 loss to Arkansas State last time out. Chandler Rogers has thrown for 787 yards, 4 touchdowns and 3 interceptions on 64% passing while Malik Jackson has a team-high 240 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns. Tyrone Howell has a team-high 11 receptions for 184 receiving yards while Alred Luke and Jevin Frett each have 100+ receiving yards as well this season. On defense, Tristan Driggers has a team-high 26 total tackles while ULM’s defense has combined for 10 sacks and 5 interceptions so far this season.

Coastal Carolina is 2-6-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 conference games while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 October games. Louisiana-Monroe is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and 8-24-1 ATS in their last 33 games in October while the under is 6-0 in their last 6 games following a loss.

I’ll give ULM credit for being a bit more competitive than we’ve become used to seeing from them in recent seasons. However, they’re still a below average Sun Belt team and even with Coastal having some defensive lapses this season, they have one of the best offenses in the conference that can more than make up for any shortcomings the defense has. All in all, I look for Coastal to handle this one rather easily, so give me the Chants laying the points.
