The Maryland Terrapins and Purdue Boilermakers clash Saturday in a week 6 Big Ten college football game from Byrd Stadium. Purdue just finished up a game versus Minnesota. In that matchup the Boilermakers ended up winning by 10 points. As for Maryland they played Michigan State in their last outing. The Terrapins posted a 14-point win in that game. Purdue took a tough loss in their opener this year, falling 35-31 against Penn State. The Boilermakers managed a 56-0 blowout win over Indiana State in game two, then fell 32-29 to Syracuse. Purdue got back to .500 with a 28-26 win over Florida Atlantic in their next game.

Matched up against Minnesota last weekend, the Boilermakers scored 10 points in both the first and fourth quarters in a 20-10 win. QB Aidan O’Connell put up 199 yards and two picks, while Devin Mockobee led the rushers on 11 carries for 112 yards and a TD.

Over on the Maryland side, they took a couple of big wins to start out the season with victories 31-10 over Buffalo and 56-21 over Charlotte. The Terrapins escaped SMU 34-27, then fell to Michigan by the same score the very next week for their first loss of the year.

In the Michigan State game, Maryland scored points in every quarter during a 27-13 victory. Quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa finished with 314 yards and a score. Antwain Littleton added 19 carries for 120 yards and a TD, while Jeshuan Jones had 60 yards off six catches.

PICK: I’m going to stay with Purdue. This should be a pretty good matchup regardless, though. The Boilermakers weren’t exactly lights-out versus Minnesota; Purdue put up three turnovers and went a tepid 4-of-14 on third downs. That said, the Boilermakers also held the Gophers to just 47 rush yards, 14 first downs and came up with three picks in a nice overall effort.
As for Maryland, they played a pretty solid overall game themselves in the win versus Michigan State. The Terrapins notched 489 total yards, 24 first downs and zero turnovers. If both teams are at their best, this should turn out to be a pretty close matchup. Should be a fun one.
