The Mississippi State Bulldogs and Auburn Tigers meet Saturday in week 10 SEC college football action from Davis Wade Stadium. Auburn is fresh off a matchup versus Arkansas. In that one the Tigers lost by two touchdowns. As for Mississippi State, they’re coming off a bye week. The Bulldogs last appeared in a blowout loss to Alabama. Auburn kicked off their year with wins over Mercer and San Jose State before a loss to Penn State and another win (OT) versus Missouri. The Tigers would then fall to LSU, Georgia and Mississippi in a trio of tough matchups.

In the Arkansas game over the weekend, the Tigers were outscored 14-0 in the third quarter on the way to a 41-27 loss. Quarterback Robby Ashford finished with 285 yards and a TD while also leading the rush on 87 yards from 19 carries.

Over on the Mississippi State side, they beat Memphis and Arizona prior to a loss to LSU. The Bulldogs bounced back with wins over Bowling Green, Texas A&M And Arkansas, then fell to Kentucky and Alabama in the next pair.

In the Alabama game back on October 22, the Bulldogs were down 24-0 by halftime. Mississippi State couldn’t find much success after the break either and lost 30-6. QB Will Rogers finished with 231 yards, and Jo’quavious Marks led the rush on 53 yards and a score.

Auburn is 2-7 ATS in their last nine overall and 2-7 ATS versus a team with a winning record. The Tigers are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 on grass.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four at home and 5-1 ATS in their last six in November. Mississippi State is 1-6 ATS in the last seven after a bye week.

PICK: I’m probably staying with Auburn, but not touching it. The Tigers turned in a rough performance against Arkansas over the weekend, giving up points in every quarter. Auburn didn’t do too badly on offense (468 yards; 20 first downs; zero turnovers; 11-of-19 on third-down tries). That said, the Tigers gave up 520 yards and 23 first downs to the Razorbacks in the loss. The defense is going to need to be much sharper here.

As for Mississippi State, they’ll likely benefit from the open week as they come off a couple of tough outings. The Bulldogs have posted 39 or more points in each of their five wins so far this year, but I don’t quite think they’ll hit the cover pace in this matchup.
