The Boise State Broncos and Colorado State Rams meet Saturday in week 9 MWC college football action from Albertsons Stadium. Colorado State is coming off a game versus Hawaii. In that one, the Rams powered out a four-point win. As for Boise State, they played Air Force over the weekend. The Broncos ended up winning by five. Colorado State had a four-game losing streak to start out the 2022 season. The Rams fell to Michigan, Middle Tennessee Washington State and Sacramento State before a 17-14 win over Nevada. The Rams fell to Utah State 17-13 in the next game, however.

In the Hawaii matchup, Colorado State was down 13-3 at halftime. The Rams rallied in the second half for a 17-13 comeback victory. QB Clay Millen finished with 177 yards, and Avery Morrow carried 26 times for 147 yards and two scores.

Over on the Boise State side, they went 2-2 over their first four games this year with losses to Oregon State and UTEP mixed with wins over New Mexico and TN-Martin. Boise State would win their next two games versus San Diego State and Fresno State as well.

In the Air Force game, the Broncos were up 19-7 by the break. Boise State failed to score after halftime but still managed to hang on for the 19-14 win. Quarterback Taylen Green logged 207 yards with one pick, and Ashton Jeanty had 53 yards and a score off 15 carries.

PICK: I’m probably going to take a stab on Boise State. The Broncos are coming off an up-and-down victory versus Air Force, finishing with 322 total yards, 16 first downs and a sketchy 5-of-13 on third-down tries. That said, the Boise State defense was solid, holding the Falcons to just 96 passing yards and 14 first downs.

As for Colorado State, they had a nice comeback effort versus Hawaii. The Rams managed 386 yards and 19 first downs along the way, but went just 3-of-12 on third-down tries. This should be another pretty well-balanced matchup and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a close finish.
