The San Diego State Aztecs and the New Mexico Lobos meet Friday in college football action from University Stadium. San Diego State is coming off a matchup versus San Jose State. In that one the Aztecs managed a 16-point victory. As for New Mexico, they just finished up against Air Force. The Lobos ended up falling in a blowout. San Diego State went 2-3 in their first five games this year with losses to Arizona, Utah and Boise State. The Aztecs would win their next pair over Hawaii and Nevada, then lose to Fresno State before a win over UNLV to move to 5-4 overall.

In the San Jose State game back on Saturday, the Aztecs were down 14-7 after one quarter. San Diego State got much better from there however, eventually taking a 43-27 win. Jalen Mayden posted 268 yards with three touchdowns and one interception in the victory.

Over on the Lobos’ side, they won two of their first three games this year over Maine and UTEP. New Mexico would then hit a losing streak to LSU, UNLV, Wyoming, New Mexico STate, Fresno State and Utah State.

Matched up against Air Force, the Lobos were down 14-0 by halftime. New Mexico couldn’t find much success in the second half either and lost 35-3. QB Justin Holaday put up 128 yards, and Christian Washington added 24 rush yards on seven totes.

The Aztecs are 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight in November and 1-4 ATS in their last five Friday games. SDSU is 1-5 ATS in their last six after an ATS win.
Meanwhile, the Lobos are 17-35-1 ATS in their last 53 conference games and 15-35-1 ATS in their last 51 on grass. New Mexico is 16-41-1 ATS in their last 58 overall.

PICK: I’m going to take San Diego State. The Aztecs are coming off a nice performance against a pretty decent San Jose State team. San Diego State managed 425 yards of offense (157 rushing) in that one with 23 first downs and just one turnover. It was a great defensive effort on the other side with just 223 yards and 14 first downs allowed. New Mexico doesn’t have a ton of offensive firepower, so it’s going to be tough for them to keep pace.
