The West Virginia Mountaineers and the Oklahoma State Cowboys meet Saturday in college football action from Boone Pickens Stadium. West Virginia took on Kansas State in their matchup last weekend. The Mountaineers would go on to lose by 17 points. As for Oklahoma State, they played Oklahoma in their most recent game. In that one the Cowboys took a 15-point loss. West Virginia went 2-2 over their first four outings this year, beating Towson and Virginia Tech. The Mountaineers would go just 2-4 over the next six games, falling to Texas, Texas Tech, TCU and Iowa State with wins over Baylor and Oklahoma otherwise.

In the Kansas State game, the Mountaineers gave up 41 points in the first half alone. By game’s end West Virginia had a 48-31 defeat. Mountaineers QB Garrett Greene posted 204 yards with three scores and two picks, and Jaylen Anderson had 69 yards off seven carries.

Over on the Oklahoma side, they managed a win streak over Central Michigan, Arizona State, AR-Pine Bluff, Baylor and Texas Tech before falling to TCU. The Cowboys would go just 2-2 over the next four, falling to Kansas State and Kansas.

Matched up against Oklahoma, the Cowboys gave up a whopping 28 points in the first quarter alone. Oklahoma State stopped the bleeding but couldn’t come back in a 28-13 loss. QB Spencer Sanders had 381 yards, one TD and four interceptions.

The Mountaineers are 2-5 ATS in their last seven in November and 2-6 ATS in their last eight road games. West Virginia is 1-4 ATS in their last five conference games.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys are 5-1 ATS in their last six after an ATS loss and 13-5-1 ATS in the last 19 conference games. OK State is 16-6-1 ATS in their last 23 overall.

PICK: I’m probably staying with Oklahoma State. The Cowboys have to bounce back from a rough loss to Oklahoma in their last game, though. Oklahoma State did great on defense after the first quarter, but the four interceptions and 7-of-22 run on third down’s didn’t help.

As for West Virginia, they had a fairly tepid offensive outing versus a good Kansas State team, notching 369 total yards (153 rushing), 21 first downs and 2-of-10 on third-down tries. It’s only going to get tougher in this matchup, and I don’t think the Mountaineers will keep the pace.
