The Purdue Boilermakers and Iowa Hawkeyes do battle Saturday in a week 10 Big Ten college football game from Ross-Ade Stadium.

The Iowa Hawkeyes will look to build on their 33-13 win over Northwestern last time out to improve to 4-4 on the year. Spencer Petras has thrown for 1,209 yards, 3 touchdowns and 5 interceptions on 55.6% passing while Kaleb Johnson and Leshon Williams each have 300+ rushing yards as well this season. Sam LaPorta leads Iowa’s receivers with 41 grabs for 387 yards and is one of four pass catchers with 100+ receiving yards for Iowa this season. On defense, Jack Campbell has a team-high 80 total tackles while Cooper DeJean has 3 interceptions and Iowa’s defense as a whole has 21 sacks this season, led by 4 apiece from Lukas Van Ness and Joe Evans.

The Purdue Boilermakers will try to bounce back from a 35-24 road loss to Wisconsin last time out to drop to 5-3 on the year last time out. Aidan O’Connell has thrown for 2,270 yards, 15 touchdowns and 8 interceptions on 66.3% passing while Dylan Mockobee has a team-high 561 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns while Dylan Downing has 249 rushing yards and 4 TDs. Charlie Jones leads Purdue’s receivers with 72 grabs for 840 yards and 9 touchdowns while Payne Durham has 376 receiving yards and Mershawn Rice and TJ Sheffield each have 200+ receiving yards this season. On defense, Sanoussi Kane has a team-high 37 total tackles with 29 solo tackles while the Purdue defense as a whole has 18 sacks and 10 interceptions this season.

Iowa is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following an ATS win and 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 road games while the over is 7-2 in their last 9 conference games. Purdue is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following an ATS loss and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a loss while the over is 7-1 in their last 8 home games.

I get the case to be made both ways here, but I like Purdue. Iowa’s a solid defensive unit and the Hawkeyes can beat up on teams like Northwestern and Rutgers, but the problem there is that you’re beating up on teams who have struggled to move the football all year long, and that’s not going to serve you well against a team like Purdue with solid quarterback play and a Purdue team that tends to play their best ball at home. If this game was at Iowa, we may be having a different talk, but on the road, I can’t trust Iowa’s offense to suddenly rise up and perform. I’ll side with Purdue laying the points here.
