The San Diego State Aztecs and UNLV Rebels meet Saturday in week 10 MWC college football action from Snapdragon Stadium. UNLV is sitting at 4-4 overall this year and coming off an open week. As for San Diego State, they played Fresno State over the weekend. In that one the Aztecs lost by four. Check back all season long for free college football picks at Sports Chat Place.

UNLV has had their ups and downs over the first eight games so far. The Rebels started at 4-1 with wins over Idaho State, North Texas, Utah State and New Mexico. Since then it’s been losses to San Jose State, Air Force and Notre Dame in the last trio.

In the Notre Dame game back on October 22, the Rebels were down 30-7 by halftime. UNLV got better in the second half but still lost 44-21 in a blowout. QB Harrison Bailey finished with 73 yards, and Courtney Reese led the rush on 142 yards from 11 carries.

Over on the Aztecs’ side, their year began at 2-2 with wins over Idaho State and Toledo alongside losses to Arizona and Utah. San Diego State would then lose to Boise State before beating Hawaii and Nevada.

In the Fresno State matchup, the Aztecs had a 28-17 lead going into the final quarter. San Diego State was outscored 15-0 from there in a 32-28 loss. QB Jalen Mayden threw for 291 yards, two scores and two picks while also leading the rush on 43 yards and two touchdowns.

PICK: I’m probably taking a stab on San Diego State. the Aztecs need a nice bounce-back after their loss to Fresno State, however. San Diego State out-gained the Bulldogs 449-391 (including a rush yardage edge of 158 to minus-3). That said, the Aztecs fell apart late and finished with five turnovers and eight penalties. They’ve simply got to be better here.

As for UNLV, they’re coming off an ugly game versus Notre Dame. The Rebels posted 299 total yards in that one, with just 11 first downs and a futile 0-of-12 rate on third downs. UNLV has just 35 combined points over their last three games (while allowing a whopping 126), and I don’t think they’ll keep up the cover pace.
