The Kentucky Wildcats and Mississippi State Bulldogs do battle Saturday in a week 7 SEC college football game from Kroger Field.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs will look to build on their three-game win streak and their 5-1 record after a 40-17 win over Arkansas last time out. Will Rogers has thrown for 2,110 yards, 22 touchdowns and 3 interceptions on 71.6% passing while Dillon Johnson has a team-high 402 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns. Jo’quavious Marks also has 245 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns while Rara Thomas has 368 receiving yards to lead Mississippi State with 3 touchdowns and Caleb Ducking has a team-high 28 receptions and 7 touchdowns along with 322 receiving uards. Rufus Harvey and Lideatrick Griffin each have 200+ receiving yards while five other receivers each have 100+ receiving yards this season. On defense, Jett Johnson has a team-high 57 total tackles while Nathaniel Watson has a team-high 3 sacks and Emmanuel Forbes has a team-high 4 interceptions.

The Kentucky Wildcats will try to rebound from back-to-back losses, falling to 4-2 on the year after a 24-14 loss to South Carolina in their last game. Will Levis has thrown for 1,405 yards, 12 touchdowns and 4 interceptions on 68.8% passing while Kavosley Smoke’s rushed for 269 yards this season. Tayvion Robinson has a team-high 25 catches for 392 receiving yards and 3 scores while Barion Brown and Dane Key have combined for 579 yards receiving with 5 touchdowns. On defense, DeAndre Square also has a team-high 41 total tackles while Kentucky’s defense has combined for 8 sacks and 5 interceptions this season.

Mississippi State is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games in October while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 road games against a team with a winning home record. Kentucky is 18-8-1 ATS in their last 27 home games and 19-5-2 ATS in their last 26 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 conference games.

I get the case to be made for either side here, but I’m leaning towards Mississippi State here. The Wildcats have been solid against the pass, but haven’t faced a team that can air it out like Mississippi State this season. The Bulldogs have really turned it on in recent weeks and while Kentucky has played well early on this year, they’ve really struggled in their last couple of games, especially offensively, and I think the Wildcats will struggle to keep pace here as well. Give me Mississippi State here.
