The Purdue Boilermakers and Indiana State Sycamores do battle Saturday in week 2 college football action from Ross-Ade Stadium.

The Indiana State Sycamores will be out to build on a 17-14 OT win over North Alabama from their season opener. Gavin Screws threw for 141 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions on 16 of 30 passing while Tee Hodge had a team-high 78 rushing yards while Justin Dinka added 65 rushing yards of his own in the win. Kevin Barnett led the Sycamores with 5 catches for 38 yards while Dinka and Daijon Collins each had 30+ receiving yards. Tyce Farrell also added a touchdown grab as well in the win. Rylan Cole also chipped in a pair of interceptions in the winning effort for the Sycamores.

The Purdue Boilermakers will be looking to rebound after a 35-31 loss to Penn State last time out. Aidan O’Connell has thrown for 356 yards and a touchdown on 50% passing while King Doerue has a team-high 57 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns. Charlie Jones leads Purdue’s receiving corps with 12 catches for 153 yards and a touchdown while Mershawn Rice has 59 receiving yards and TJ Sheffield and Payne Durham each have 40+ receiving yards so far this season. On defense, Chris Jefferson has a team-high 7 total tackles and an interception while Scotty Humpich has a sack as well for the Boilermakers’ defense.

Indiana State is 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games in September. Purdue is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 games following a loss.

I get why you’d want to look either way here as the Sycamores are getting a boatload of points with a Purdue team that had defensive issues to say the least against Penn State while Purdue is the better team that can light up the scoreboard with solid QB play from Aidan O’Connell. That being said, I like the over instead here because I think this is going to be a high-scoring game, but I worry that Purdue gets up by a lot, coasts and lets Indiana State sneak in the backdoor with a line this big. I’ll side with the over in this one.
