The West Virginia Mountaineers and Kansas Jayhawks clash Saturday in a week 2 Big 12 conference college football matchup from Milan Puskar Stadium.

The Kansas Jayhawks will look to build on a 56-10 win over Tennessee Tech in their season opener. Jalon Daniels has thrown for 189 yards, a touchdown and an interception on 83.3% passing while Devin Neal’s rushed for a team-high 108 yards and 2 scores. Sevion Morrison also has 70 rushing yards with a score and Daniel Hishaw Jr. has 56 rushing yards with a touchdown as well. Lawrence Arnold and Quentin Skinner also have a team-high 56 receiving yards apiece this season. On defense, Lonnie Phelps has a team-high 7 total tackles, 6 solo tackles and 3 sacks while Eriq Gilyard has an interception as well this season.

The West Virginia Mountaineers will look to rebound after a 38-31 loss to Pitt in their season-opening game. JT Daniels has thrown for 214 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception on 57.5% passing while CJ Donaldson’s rushed for a team-high 125 yards with a touchdown and Tony Mathis Jr. has 71 rushing yards as well this season. Bryce Ford-Wheaton leads West Virginia with 9 catches for 97 yards and a pair of touchdowns and Sam James also has 5 catches for 50 yards this season. On defense, Lee Kpogba has a team-high 10 total tackles while Jared Bartlett and Dante Stills each have a team-high 1.5 sacks this season.

Kansas is 3-6-2 ATS in their last 11 road games and 6-15-2 ATS in their last 23 games overall while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 road games. West Virginia is 2-4 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 home games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 home games.

I get the case to be made for either side here, but while Kansas’ win over Tennessee Tech was nice, I’m still a bit hesitant to jump on board given that West Virginia showed some promise offensively against Pitt and we know from years past what this Kansas team brings to the table at points and that answer is not very much. I think with a new QB at WVU, the Mountaineers bring a bit more punch that Kansas isn’t going to have an answer for like they did in last year’s tight, six-point win for West Virginia when the Mountaineers were laying more than two scores. I look for the Mountaineers to get it done this time, so give me West Virginia laying the points at home here.
