The Miami-OH RedHawks and Cincinnati Bearcats do battle Saturday in week 3 college football action from Paul Brown Stadium. Cincinnati just finished a matchup versus Kennesaw State. The Bearcats won that one by a whopping 53 points. As for Miami-OH, they played Robert Morris in their last game. In that one the RedHawks also took a sizable victory. Cincinnati had a tough draw out of the gate this year, ultimately falling to Arkansas 31-24 in their opener. QB Ben Bryant finished with 325 yards, two scores and a pick, while Corey Kiner led the rush on 59 yards and a score. Tyler Scott added 77 yards from five catches.

In game two versus Kennesaw State, the Bearcats scored 42 points in the second half alone on the way to a 63-10 victory. Bryant threw for three scores and 201 yards, while Myles Montgomery managed 104 yards and a TD on just five carries.

Over on the Miami-OH side, they also played a stout team in their opener. The RedHawks fell to Kentucky 37-13 after keeping pace very well in the first half. QB Brett Gabbert threw for 166 yards, and Tyre Shelton managed 50 yards and a score off seven carries.

Matched up against Robert Morris this past weekend, the RedHawks posted a 24-7 edge by halftime and eventually pulled off the 31-14 win. QB Aveon Smith finished with 155 yards, three TDs and one pick. Kevin Davis led the rush with 63 yards, and Mac Hippenhammer had two receiving TDs.

PICK: I’m probably staying with Cincinnati. The Bearcats stood tall against Arkansas in their opener, and in game two the team really opened up the offense against an overmatched opponent. Cincinnati recorded 525 total yards with 9.5 yards per play, 24 first downs and 5-of-8 on third down tries. Outside of a lost fumble, the only real blemish was the Bearcats’ 10 penalties.

As for Miami-OH, they played well in their last game themselves with 408 total yards and 22 first downs. The RedHawks had three turnovers but otherwise there wasn’t much to complain about. I think Miami-OH will hang around this one for a while before the Bearcats pull away.
